There are both short term and long term antibodies. The long term ones develop after the short term ones and are a secondary response. So yes, if the case is mild and the short term antibodies knock it down, then the body may not produce as many IgG long term antibodies.

I don't think we know how long the antibodies last, but we do know that the more severe the illness, the more antibodies that are produced to try to fight it.
